Work for today

I've been told I'm creating unnecessary work for myself. So here's a brief list of what I've had to deal with today, without even trying:

9:16 am: Eye doctor surgery coordinator calls me back, and said she is happy to fax over a doctor's note saying that Aunt May needs the eye drops and if unable to do it herself, needs someone to do it for her. I also ask her questions, like should she take her drops and can she wear a bra. (Yes.)

9:32 am: I call her back to give her 2 fax numbers -- one for Aunt May's doctor, and one for me.

9:55 am: I get a call from the new home health agency, asking to confirm that they should visit today for post-op medical care. I explain that the operation isn't until tomorrow. They offer to come on Wednesday. I say sure, but she has a followup medical appointment so it needs to work around that. She says well if she has a followup appointment, she shouldn't need to come by that day. But she doesn't work on Thursdays. We settle on Friday afternoon.

11:12 am: I get a recorded message from the drugstore, saying that a prescription is ready. I don't remember which one, but it's definitely one of Aunt May's and not mine. It could be one of those automatic refill deals.

12:19 pm: The eye doctor's surgery scheduler (different business than the coordinator) calls to let me know that the surgery tomorrow will be at 9:30 am, and she should arrive no later than 8:30 am. I ask her questions like how long will it take, and should she take her drops tomorrow morning. (90 minutes, yes.)

2:05 pm: The primary care doctor's office calls to ask me to fax over the blood work and release for surgery (since they gave it to me, and when I'd called the eye dr from there on Friday, they gave me an incorrect fax number, so the doctor's office fax did not go through on Friday). Unfortunately, I don't have the documents with me, so I say OK but it won't be until tonight.

4:12 pm: The surgery coordinator calls me to say she was able to send her fax to the doctor's office, but the fax is not going through to my fax number. I double check and confirm my company's fax number to her, and it's correct. I ask her to try again. She also asks me to fax over the documentation tonight, because the anesthesiologist needs it. She'll be in the office at 8 am so can send it over then.

4:30 pm: I look up Office Depot online; it's right down the street and has fax services. They close at 8. That means I'll need to go home, pick up the documents, and be at Office Depot by no later than 7:45 pm.

4:58 pm: Rethinking the whole home health care agency conversation. Dammit, why did I have to mention a followup visit on Wednesday. Someone needs to give her the damned drops.
